I have a quick car tach that doesn't work at idle unless I tap on it. When I tap on it it works for a few seconds and then goes to 0rpms. When I rev the motor it works and reads correctly but doesn't work at idle. What could be the problem? Thanks

If it is a Yamaha, make sure you have the pull up resistor on it. Also make sure you have it connected to the ECU tach signal and not the Coil signal wire.
